Student Org Participant at Danie's Day 2014
The Sophomore Class of the Arrupe Scholars Program and Sigma Phi Epsilon will be sponsoring Danie’s Day (formerly known as Project H.O.P.E.) on
Saturday, February 22, 2014.
This event will be dedicated as a field day for mentally and physically challenged youth through
Northeast Ohio’s The Up Side of Downs
, a nonprofit organization providing a support system for families and persons with Down syndrome. These participants will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities such as karaoke, crafts, and athletic games with the assistance of John Carroll students. Students will have the chance to sign up as “Buddies” for the day providing the participants with a fun and memorable experience.
Danie’s Day is a special event in memory of
Danielle Rose, Class of 2015
. Danielle was an Arrupe Scholar, whose passions were rooted in helping children, like her sister, April, who has Down syndrome. Danielle always put others before herself, and selflessly committed her time to enhance the lives of mentally and physically challenged youth. On the day Danielle left us, it only seemed fitting to explore options to remember both her and her commitment to others. Her unwavering passion served as inspiration to reinstate this event. Even though Danielle is no longer with us, her legacy is still alive.
We hope that student organization will help by sponsoring a booth or activity such as face painting, hula hoops, karaoke, shooting hoops, cookie decorating--be creative-think 5th grade field day!
